FED rates revised for locally manufactured, imported vehicles

KARACHI: The government has enhanced Federal Excise Duty (FED) rates up to 30 percent on imported vehicles through Finance Supplementary (Second Amendment) Bill, 2019.

 

 

According to proposed amendments to Federal Excise Act, 2005, the rate has been increased up to 30 percent for imported cars, SUVs and other motor vehicles of cylinder capacity of 3000CC or above, principally designed for the transport of persons (other than those of headings 87.02), including stations wagons and racing cars of cylinder capacity of 3000CC or above.

 

However, 25 percent duty has been proposed for imported motor car, SUVs and other motor vehicles of 1800CC or above but not exceeding 3000CC, principally designed for the transport of persons (other than those of heading 87.02), including station wagons and racing cars of cylinder capacity of 1800CC or above but not exceeding 3000CC.

 

The locally assembled / manufactured vehicles will be liable to 10 percent FED with the condition that locally manufactured or assembled motor cars, SUVs and other motor vehicles of cylinder capacity of 1800CC or above, principally designed for the transport of persons (other than those of heading 87.02), including station wagons and racing cars of cylinder capacity of 1800CC or above.
