KARACHI: The investment in unregistered prize bonds has increased by 17 percent to Rs922.78 billion by month-end of December 2018 as against ending stock of Rs788.4 billion in the same month a year ago, according to debt statistics issued by State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
During the year the prize bonds with denomination Rs7,500 were remained attractive avenue for parking money as those grew by 27.37 percent to Rs95.99 billion as against the ending stock of Rs75.36 as of December 2017.
The prize bonds with high valued denominations were also attractive avenue for the investors during the year.
The ending stock of investment into Rs25,000 denomination increased by 16.6 percent to Rs156.75 billion by December 2018 as compared with R134.36 billion a year ago.
Similarly, the investment into prize bonds with denomination of Rs40,000 grew by 14.71 percent to Rs259.1 billion from the ending stock of Rs225.86 billion as of December 2017.
The stock of registered prize bonds with denomination of Rs40,000 also increased by 34.5 percent to Rs5.83 billion as compared with Rs4.338 billion during the comparative periods.
