ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday said that bringing elites into tax net vital for economic viability of the country.
Addressing at an award ceremony to acknowledge top taxpayers in the country, the prime minister said that there was need to change the mindset for about creation of wealth.
He also stressed the need for promoting tax culture and bringing elites into tax net.
Imran Khan said that there were only 1.7 million return filers in the country and those could not bear the burden of 210 million population of Pakistan.
He acknowledged the regular contribution by big taxpayers towards economy of the country.
He directed the authorities to ensure that the money paid by large taxpayers was not spent on the extravagance of the ruling elite.
