2025 Honda Civic Hybrid Sneak Peek Reveals Refreshed Design

American Honda has provided a sneak peek at the upcoming 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid, showcasing a refreshed exterior design. As part of the 2025 model year updates, the Civic lineup, including both sedan and hatchback models, will receive styling and feature enhancements.

The Civic hybrid will be introduced, with expectations that it will constitute approximately 40 percent of total sales upon its summer launch, contributing to the brand’s growing hybrid sales, which achieved record numbers in 2023.

While the car’s specifications and interior details are yet to be disclosed, the showcased exterior boasts a revitalized design, including a hybrid badge at the rear.

The front grille is now thicker with a honeycomb mesh, replacing the existing lines and harmonizing with the lower grille. The vehicle is also equipped with new 7-spoke 2-tone alloy wheels, an updated bumper design, and revised LED tail lamps.

During a recent media briefing featuring Senior Vice President of Sales Mamadou Diallo, American Honda shared insights into its U.S. automobile business for 2024.

2024 Auto Sales Outlook

Following a successful year in 2023, with auto sales reaching 1.3 million units, a 33 percent year-over-year increase due to stabilized production and improved logistics, Honda aims to maintain its momentum in 2024.

The Honda brand is projected to achieve sales of up to 1.3 million units, while the Acura brand has set a target of 150,000 units, representing a 10-15 percent sales increase for American Honda compared to 2023. The company starts 2024 with robust inventories of both cars and trucks, positioning itself favorably for continued sales growth throughout the year.

The Honda CR-V hybrid, the best-selling hybrid vehicle across all segments in the U.S. in 2023, exceeded expectations with a sales volume of 197,317 for the year.

2024 Product Strategy

American Honda is committed to its gradual electrification strategy, focusing on increasing hybrid volume and introducing high-volume electric vehicles. Diallo stated, “In 2024, we will initiate sales of three zero-emissions vehicles to help achieve our goals of 100 percent zero-emissions vehicle sales by 2040 and carbon neutrality by 2050.”

Acura’s Electrification Plans

Acura is set to launch the all-electric ZDX SUV in early 2024, featuring a unique omni-channel retail experience where customers can complete transactions online. Orders for the ZDX will be accepted starting in February.

The MDX SUV, Acura’s best-selling model, will undergo significant enhancements, including styling changes, premium audio from Bang and Olufsen, a new technology interface with Google integration, and an advanced AcuraWatch™ suite of driver assistive features. The RDX will also receive upgrades for improved appeal and functionality, while an entirely new Acura crossover is expected to debut later in the year.

Honda’s Electric Initiatives

Honda plans to launch two zero-emissions vehicles in 2024—the all-new electric Prologue SUV and the CR-V Fuel Cell Vehicle (FCEV). The Prologue will initially focus on sales in California, ZEV states, Texas, and Florida, with a nationwide rollout following the initial launch. The CR-V FCEV, based on Honda’s popular model, will be North America’s first production vehicle combining a plug-in feature with FCEV technology.

In addition to the Civic lineup receiving updates for 2025, the Odyssey minivan will undergo styling and technology enhancements to ensure competitiveness in its segment.

Electrification and Sustainability Updates

At CES 2024, Honda unveiled its new global EV series, the Honda 0 Series, along with two concept models, Saloon and Space-Hub.

The production model based on the Saloon concept is scheduled for introduction in the U.S. in 2026. As part of the new Honda EV Hub in Ohio, manufacturing lines are already consolidating in preparation for EV production.
