Company approves electric bike assembly plant at Sundar Green Special Economic Zone under its own AirV brand
KARACHI: Air Link Communication Limited has announced its entry into Pakistan’s electric vehicle (EV) market after its Board of Directors approved the establishment of a local electric bike assembly project under the company’s own AirV brand.
The decision was taken during the board meeting held on July 23, 2026, marking a strategic move by the company to diversify beyond smartphone distribution and electronics manufacturing into sustainable mobility solutions.
Assembly plant to be set up in Lahore
According to the company’s notification, the project involves establishing a state-of-the-art electric bike assembly plant at Air Link’s existing manufacturing facility in the Sundar Green Special Economic Zone (SGSEZ), Lahore.
The facility will assemble electric motorcycles under the AirV brand and is expected to strengthen the company’s manufacturing footprint while expanding its product portfolio.
The Board of Directors has authorised the company’s management to undertake all regulatory, commercial and operational steps required for the implementation of the project.
Expanding into Pakistan’s EV market
The company said the investment forms part of its long-term strategy to expand into technology-driven mobility solutions and capitalise on the growing demand for electric vehicles in Pakistan.
Air Link believes the domestic EV market offers significant growth opportunities as consumers increasingly shift towards environmentally friendly and cost-efficient transportation.
The company also expects government support for electric mobility and incentives for local manufacturing to encourage wider adoption of electric two-wheelers in the coming years.
Growing competition in electric mobility
Air Link’s announcement comes at a time when Pakistan’s automotive sector is witnessing increasing investment in electric mobility, with several domestic and international manufacturers introducing new EV models and expanding local production.
Industry analysts said the launch of AirLink electric bikes under the AirV brand could intensify competition in Pakistan’s emerging electric two-wheeler market while contributing to the country’s transition towards cleaner and more sustainable transportation.
The project also reflects the company’s broader strategy of leveraging its manufacturing capabilities to diversify into high-growth technology sectors beyond consumer electronics.
