Levante strengthen their squad with the signing of Algeria international Aissa Mandi on a two-year deal ahead of the new La Liga campaign.

Levante have strengthened their defensive ranks by signing experienced Algerian international Aissa Mandi on a free transfer.

The Spanish club confirmed on Thursday that the veteran center-back has agreed to a two-year contract, marking his return to La Liga after spending the last two seasons in France.

The 34-year-old defender arrives with a wealth of top-level experience and is expected to play a key role in Levante’s plans for the upcoming season. The move brings Mandi back to familiar territory, having previously enjoyed a successful career in Spanish football.

Experienced International Defender

Mandi remains one of Algeria’s most accomplished footballers. The center-back has represented his national team on 123 occasions and continues to be a vital figure for the North African side. He featured in all four of Algeria’s matches during this summer’s World Cup campaign, underlining his importance at the international level.

His leadership, defensive awareness, and experience in high-pressure matches are expected to provide a significant boost to Levante as they prepare for the challenges of the new campaign.

Strong Record in France and Spain

Before completing his move to Levante, Mandi spent two seasons with French club Lille. During the previous season, he made 40 appearances across Ligue 1 and UEFA Europa League competitions, demonstrating his consistency and fitness despite being in the later stages of his career.

The defender is particularly well known in Spain, where he enjoyed successful spells with Real Betis and Villarreal. Across eight seasons in La Liga, Mandi accumulated 202 appearances, establishing himself as a dependable presence in defense. He also gained valuable European experience, featuring in seven UEFA Champions League matches and 22 Europa League fixtures.

Levante Continue Summer Recruitment

According to the club, Mandi will complete medical examinations before linking up with head coach Luis Castro’s squad. His arrival represents Levante’s second signing of the summer transfer window, following the recruitment of French midfielder Enzo Bardeli from Dunkerque.

The signing of Aissa Mandi reflects Levante’s strategy of adding proven experience to their squad. His extensive La Liga background and international pedigree should help improve defensive stability, while his leadership qualities could prove invaluable in guiding younger players throughout the season.
