Amazon and Hyundai Unveil Partnership, Introducing Online Sales

Amazon and Hyundai Motor Company have unveiled an extensive strategic alliance aimed at enhancing customer experiences and simplifying various aspects of daily life.

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasizing Hyundai’s innovative approach aligning with Amazon’s commitment to improving customers’ lives. The collaboration spans multiple facets, including streamlined online vehicle purchases, integration of Alexa in Hyundai vehicles, and a comprehensive digital transformation powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Starting from 2024, auto dealers will be able to sell vehicles directly through Amazon’s U.S. store. Hyundai emerges as the pioneering brand available for online purchase, allowing customers to conveniently choose, buy, and schedule delivery or pickup through their local dealership.

The digital shopping experience on Amazon enables users to explore vehicles based on preferences like model, trim, color, and features, streamlining the purchase process within the trusted Amazon platform.

Hyundai has chosen Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its preferred cloud provider to accelerate its digital transformation. A multiyear agreement outlines Hyundai’s transition to a cloud-first technology strategy, migrating on-premises applications across research, product engineering, and customer engagement to AWS.

The partnership focuses on leveraging AWS capabilities, including computing, storage, database, analytics, artificial intelligence, and Internet of Things (IoT). The collaboration includes a Master Builder training and certification program designed to equip Hyundai engineers with essential cloud skills.

Starting from 2025, next-generation Hyundai vehicles will feature enhanced interactivity with built-in Alexa capabilities. Hyundai drivers can enjoy a seamless hands-free experience, accessing features such as music playback, reminders, to-do lists, calendar updates, and smart home controls.

Alexa integration extends to providing real-time traffic updates and weather reports, ensuring a connected driving experience, even in areas with intermittent or no internet connectivity.
