Apple Expands Self Service Repair Diagnostics Software to Europe

Apple’s commitment to empowering users with self-repair capabilities has taken a significant step forward.

After introducing the Self Service Repair Diagnostics software to the United States late last year, the tech giant is now expanding this invaluable tool to 32 European countries, with plans to roll it out in Canada soon.

This software enables users to diagnose and troubleshoot faulty or broken components on their Apple devices using another Apple device. With on-screen prompts guiding users through the process, the software helps determine if any components are broken and identifies the necessary parts for repair.

While not everyone may possess the technical skills to perform repairs, this tool is beneficial in confirming the presence of hardware issues. This is particularly valuable for unlicensed repair shops, providing a reliable means to diagnose problems before seeking parts. Apple supports individuals and third-party shops in repairing iPhones with genuine parts and offers a service to verify the authenticity of these parts.

The Self Service Repair Diagnostics tool isn’t limited to iPhones; it can also examine Macs and Studio displays. Now available in 33 countries and 24 languages, the software broadens its reach, making self-repair more accessible to a global audience.

The Self Service Repair program provides access to genuine parts, tools, and manuals for 42 Apple products, including the latest MacBook Airs with M3 chips. These resources are the same as those used by staff at Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers, ensuring high-quality repairs.

This initiative aligns with Apple’s broader strategy to support right-to-repair movements and reduce electronic waste by extending the lifespan of its devices. By providing users and third-party repair shops with the tools and resources needed for effective repairs, Apple is fostering a more sustainable approach to technology.

With the expansion of the Self Service Repair Diagnostics software, Apple continues to lead the way in user empowerment and device sustainability. This move not only benefits individual users but also enhances the capabilities of repair shops, ultimately contributing to a more efficient and environmentally friendly tech ecosystem.
