Apple has officially started rolling out iOS 18 today, offering millions of iPhone users worldwide the opportunity to upgrade to the latest version of its mobile operating system.
The update is set to go live at 10 AM PT/1 PM ET/5 PM UTC, and users with eligible devices will soon see it available in their settings.
Which iPhones Are Eligible for iOS 18?
If you own an iPhone launched in 2018 or later, you are eligible to receive iOS 18. The oldest supported models include the iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max, all of which debuted six years ago.
Users can navigate to Settings > General > Software Update to check if the update is available on their device. Since the rollout is happening globally, some users may experience a slight delay before the update appears.

iOS 17.7 Still Available for Security Updates
For users who prefer to stay on iOS 17 but still want the latest security patches, Apple is simultaneously releasing iOS 17.7. This version will include all the necessary security updates, so there’s no immediate pressure to upgrade to iOS 18 unless you’re interested in the new features.
What’s Coming Next?
One highly anticipated feature, Apple Intelligence, will not be included in the initial iOS 18 release. Apple plans to introduce this AI-powered tool with iOS 18.1, expected to roll out next month.
However, users in the European Union and China may not see these AI enhancements anytime soon due to regulatory restrictions.
