Apple iPhone Duo foldable smartphone opens for pre-orders worldwide

Apple’s first foldable iPhone is available to pre-order from 70-plus countries, with prices starting at $1,999 in the US.

Apple’s first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, is set to open for pre-orders today, 16 October, marking a major step in the company’s expansion into the foldable phone market.

The device was unveiled last month alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. While the two Pro models became available for pre-orders shortly after their announcement and are already on sale, the iPhone Duo is following a separate launch schedule.

Pre-orders will begin at 12:00 UTC through Apple’s official website and the Apple Store app in more than 70 countries and regions.

These markets include the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, South Korea, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Vietnam and Brazil.

iPhone Duo sales to begin on 23 October

Apple will begin shipping and selling the iPhone Duo in the initial markets on 23 October. The company plans to expand its availability to a further 28 countries from 30 October.

The launch represents a significant development for Apple as competition intensifies in the foldable smartphone segment, where established manufacturers have already introduced several generations of devices.

iPhone Duo prices compared with Pro models

The iPhone Duo carries a substantially higher starting price than Apple’s conventional flagship smartphones, reflecting its position as a premium foldable device.

In the United States, the iPhone Duo starts at $1,999, compared with $1,199 for the iPhone 18 Pro and $1,299 for the iPhone 18 Pro Max.

In the United Kingdom, the foldable handset is priced at £1,999. The iPhone 18 Pro starts at £1,199, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max costs £1,299.

In Germany, the iPhone Duo starts at €2,299, compared with €1,449 for the iPhone 18 Pro and €1,599 for the Pro Max.

Indian customers will pay INR 299,900 for the iPhone Duo, while its starting prices in China and Japan are CNY 15,999 and JPY 364,800, respectively.

The price differences underline Apple’s premium positioning for its first foldable smartphone. Further interest is expected as the device reaches additional markets later this month.

With pre-orders opening across dozens of countries, the iPhone Duo is poised to become one of Apple’s most closely watched product launches of the year.
