Apple may increase price of iPhone 15 Pro Max by $200: reports

Reportedly Apple is planning to increase the prices of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max by up to $200 this year, marking the most significant generational rise in iPhone history.

Multiple reports suggest that Apple’s upcoming iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models will come with a higher price tag.

However, a recent leak suggests that the price increase may not be the most significant shock related to these new devices.

According to an exclusive report by Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-respected analyst and supply chain specialist, Apple is set to introduce a periscope lens exclusively in the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

This move is aimed at improving the device’s optical zoom photography capabilities, bringing it in line with competitors such as the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and the Huawei Mate 50 Pro, which have been utilizing periscope lenses for several years.

The report by Ming-Chi Kuo includes a shocking detail – despite negotiating a discounted price of only $4 (including prisms) with supplier Largan for the periscope lens module, Apple has decided not to include it in the iPhone 15 Pro.

Kuo explains that Largan cannot make a profit at this price. Furthermore, it seems strange that Apple plans to introduce the periscope lens for both the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max in 2024, which means this feature difference will only last for a single generation.

Apart from the camera and price changes, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will reportedly feature programmable Action buttons in place of the volume buttons and mute switch. Apple is also renewing its focus on LiDAR technology and will introduce the first 3nm smartphone chip, which is expected to offer improved performance and efficiency.

Additionally, the design will feature record-breaking bezels. The entire lineup will also shift to the Dynamic Island and will use an MFi-locked version of USB-C, which is bound to be a topic of debate among consumers.
