Apple Unveils Redesigned TV App for Enhanced Viewing

Apple has introduced a revamped Apple TV app, enhancing the accessibility of its acclaimed original series, films, live sports, and a variety of shows across multiple Apple devices, smart TVs, streaming sticks, gaming consoles, and more.

The streamlined interface features a new sidebar for swift navigation, granting users easy entry to Apple TV+, home of Apple Originals; MLS Season Pass for Major League Soccer; the Store for buying and renting popular movies; and quick links to existing channels and apps like Disney+, Paramount+, and Max.

Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Services, expressed, “The redesigned Apple TV app makes it easier than ever for users to watch the shows, movies, and sports they love through an intuitive interface that brings content to the forefront. With so much available to watch, our aim is to ensure users always have their favorites at their fingertips.”

The updated sidebar introduces Home, a unified guide showcasing beloved shows, movies, and sports. The Channels & Apps section within Home allows users to explore their subscribed channels or connected apps in detail. Collections, including New Shows & Movies, Top Charts, Trending, and For You, present tailored recommendations based on what’s new, popular, and personalized for each user.

For living room devices, the sidebar includes profiles, enabling households to easily switch between users for enhanced personalization in Up Next and content recommendations throughout the app.

The revamped Store tab unifies movies and TV shows into a single offering, simplifying access for users to buy or rent content. Additionally, a new Add Channels & Apps shelf provides an avenue for exploring popular streaming services.

Starting today, the iTunes Store app on iPhone and iPad, along with the iTunes Movies and iTunes TV Shows apps on Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD, will direct users to the Apple TV app. Here, they can access existing purchases and enjoy all their favorite TV shows and movies in one centralized location.
