Arif Usmani appointed NBP President, CEO

KARACHI: The federal government has appointed Arif Usmani as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), said an official note received by Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Wednesday.

The ministry of finance notified the appointment of Arif Usman as NBP President/CEO a day earlier.

The profile of Arif Usmani revealed that he had worked as Head of Risk Management at Mashreqbank in 2017.

Usmani also worked as Global Head of Wholesale Banking at Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank PJSC in 2012.

He worked as Managing Director and Citi Country Officer of Citibank N.A. Pakistan.

He started his career with Citi Pakistan in 1981 as a Unit Head for the Corporate Banking Group and since then held a number of senior positions.

He had 35 years of experience across several geographic markets and senior positions in various banking disciplines, including a number of critical Risk Management positions in the Asia Pacific region.

From 1989 to 1994, he was on Secondment with Saudi Arabia’s second largest bank SAMBA in Riyadh as Division Head where he managed some of the largest borrowing relationships in the region.
