Asia Cup 2023: Reserve Day Secured for Pakistan-India Clash

Asia Cup 2023: Reserve Day Secured for Pakistan-India Clash

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has persuaded the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) to earmark a reserve day for the highly-anticipated clash between Pakistan and India in the Super 4 round of the Asia Cup, scheduled for September 10, 2023.

This electrifying Pakistan vs. India encounter stands out as the sole fixture in the Asia Cup 2023 that will include a reserve day.

The PCB officially announced this decision on September 08, emphasizing the importance of having a contingency plan due to the current weather conditions in Colombo, Sri Lanka, where the remaining matches of the tournament are set to take place.

Concerns had been raised by the PCB regarding the looming threat of rain and its potential disruptions to the event schedule, especially in light of the washout of the previous encounter between the two teams on September 2.

The upcoming match on September 10 (Sunday) faces a significant rain threat, with a forecasted precipitation probability of up to 90 percent. In response to the PCB’s persistent concerns, the ACC has taken a proactive step by allocating a reserve day for this high-stakes face-off.

For the clash between Babar Azam’s and Rohit Sharma’s teams on September 10, the following day, September 11, has been designated as the reserve day.

The ACC released a statement clarifying the arrangements, stating, “In the event of adverse weather suspending play during the Pakistan vs. India game, the match will continue on September 11, 2023, from the point at which it was suspended.”

Additionally, ticket-holders have been advised to retain their match tickets, as they will remain valid and can be used for the reserve day, ensuring that cricket fans do not miss out on this thrilling contest.
