Finance minister says Pakistan will build on economic stability by boosting investment, exports and employment
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb has pledged to build on Pakistan’s recent economic stability by accelerating growth, attracting investment, expanding exports and creating more employment opportunities.
In his message on Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day, Aurangzeb congratulated Pakistanis at home and abroad, saying the country was moving forward with renewed confidence and a clearer economic direction.
The finance minister said macroeconomic stability had taken hold while economic reforms had progressed from policy commitments to implementation.
He added that stronger fiscal and external fundamentals were helping improve economic and investor confidence, providing a foundation for the next phase of Pakistan’s economic development.
Focus shifts from stability to growth
According to Aurangzeb, Pakistan is now entering the next stage of its economic journey, with the government focused on converting recent stability into stronger and more sustainable growth.
He said the government’s priorities included accelerating economic activity, attracting investment, increasing exports and creating employment opportunities.
“The objective is to convert economic stability into sustainable growth, reforms into opportunities and economic progress into improved living standards,” the minister said.
Aurangzeb stressed that economic progress would depend not only on government policies but also on empowering people and businesses across the country.
Youth and businesses central to growth
The finance minister described the people of Pakistan as the country’s greatest strength and most important investment.
He said empowering young people, women, entrepreneurs, farmers, workers, freelancers, innovators and businesses through skills development and greater economic opportunities would be essential for sustaining growth.
The focus on skills and entrepreneurship, he said, would help broaden participation in economic activity and create opportunities for a wider segment of society.
Policy continuity needed
Aurangzeb acknowledged that significant work remained to be done but said the direction of the country’s economic journey was becoming clearer.
“There is much more to accomplish, but the direction is clear,” he said, emphasising the importance of policy continuity, collective efforts and confidence in Pakistan’s economic potential.
He said sustained implementation of reforms would be critical to translating recent improvements in economic indicators into long-term prosperity and better living standards.
Tribute to founding leaders
The finance minister also paid tribute to the vision and sacrifices of Pakistan’s founding leaders, reaffirming the government’s commitment to building a stronger, more prosperous and inclusive country.
He said Independence Day provided an opportunity to reflect on Pakistan’s achievements while renewing the nation’s collective commitment to economic development and national progress.
Aurangzeb’s message comes as the government seeks to consolidate macroeconomic stability while shifting its policy focus towards higher growth, investment and job creation.
