Australia bounced back strongly in the second ODI of the three-match series, defeating Pakistan by 41 runs at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, to level the series 1-1.

After being asked to bat first, Australia posted a competitive total of 231/9 in their allotted 50 overs.

The visitors built their innings around valuable half-centuries from Cameron Green and Josh Inglis, while Matt Renshaw also played a crucial supporting role in the middle order.

Green top-scored with 53 off 92 deliveries, while Inglis contributed 51 from 74 balls. Renshaw added a brisk 43 off 43 balls to help Australia recover from difficult phases and ensure a respectable total.

Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi led the bowling attack with figures of 3/36 in eight overs. Young pacer Arafat Minhas claimed 2/27, while Abrar Ahmed picked up 2/34 to keep Australia in check.

Chasing 232 for victory, Pakistan struggled to build substantial partnerships and were eventually bowled out for 190 in 44 overs.

Vice-captain Shadab Khan fought a lone battle with a resilient 71 off 104 balls, keeping Pakistan’s hopes alive despite wickets falling at regular intervals.

Arafat Minhas impressed with the bat as well, scoring 33 off 43 deliveries, while Muhammad Ghazi Ghori chipped in with 37 from 48 balls.

However, Pakistan’s middle and lower order failed to capitalize on the platform, allowing Australia to regain control of the contest.

Australia’s bowling unit delivered at crucial moments, with Nathan Ellis leading the charge by taking 4/33 in nine overs. Matt Short provided key breakthroughs with 3/36, while Tanveer Sangha chipped in with 1/22.

Despite Shadab Khan’s determined half-century, Pakistan fell short as Australia secured a 41-run victory. The result levels the ODI series at 1-1, setting up an exciting decider in the third and final ODI.
