Authenticate Your Rs 5000 Banknote Through SBP Guidelines

You need not worry about the genuineness of the Rs 5000 banknote, as the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has issued guidelines to authenticate the highest denomination banknote in the country.

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has released comprehensive guidelines to facilitate the authentication of Rs 5000 banknotes.

In an effort to enhance security features and thwart counterfeit attempts, the SBP has outlined detailed measures for individuals to verify the legitimacy of these high-denomination banknotes.

The key features highlighted in the SBP’s authentication guideline include:

1. Enlarged Watermark:

• A portrait of Quaid-e-Azam in National Dress (Sherwani) appears at the obverse left of the note.

2. Electrotype Watermark:

• The denomination of the note is positioned below the portrait of Quaid-e-Azam.

3. Window Security Thread:

• A partially embedded window security thread runs from top to bottom at the obverse left of the note.

• Denomination numeral ‘5000’ is visible in the thread.

• The thread appears as silver dashes on the front and transforms into a line when the note is held against transmitted light.

• Under ultraviolet light, the security thread exhibits yellow and blue fluorescent bands.

Front Features:

1. Portrait:

• An enlarged portrait of Quaid-e-Azam in Sherwani is located on the right side of the note.

2. See-through:

• The value figure of the note is partly visible at the obverse left top and partly at the reverse right top, creating a cohesive view when seen through light.

3. Anti Scan & Anti Copy:

• Anti-scan and anti-copy line patterns are incorporated into the note, preventing scanning and photocopying.

4. Latent Image:

• A hidden denomination numeral appears vertically at the right side of the portrait, visible from different angles.

5. Optical Variable Ink:

• The crescent and five-pointed star surrounded by Optical Variable Ink (OVI) change color from green to golden and golden to green when the note is viewed from various angles.

6. Year of Production:

• The year of production is displayed at the obverse right of the note.

7. Geometrical Patterns:

• Decorative ornamental patterns adorn the front of the note.

8. Identification Mark:

• Three raised circles at the obverse left aid visually impaired individuals in recognizing the value of the note.

9. Intaglio Lines:

• Intaglio lines appear at the right and left sides of the note.

10. Micro Lettering:

• Micro-lettering denomination ‘5000’ appears at the right top close to the picture of Quaid-e-Azam and at the left bottom near the security thread.

11. Number:

• A seven-digit serial number with a prefix is printed on the obverse at the right top and at the left bottom below the watermark, using magnetic ink.

12. Signature:

• The signature of the Governor, State Bank of Pakistan, Yaseen Anwar, is printed in the main color of the note above the words ‘GOVERNOR STATE BANK OF PAKISTAN.’

Back Features:

1. Geometrical Patterns:

• Decorative ornamental patterns embellish the back of the note.

2. Vignette:

• A vignette of Faisal Mosque, Islamabad, along with the name, is featured on the note.

3. Anti Scan & Anti Copy:

• Anti-scan and anti-copy line patterns on the back prevent scanning and photocopying.

4. Lettering:

• The words ‘STATE BANK OF PAKISTAN’ appear at the center top of the note.

• The value in words ‘FIVE THOUSAND RUPEES’ is present in a panel at the center bottom of the note.

• The denomination in figures appears in English at the left bottom and in Urdu at the right bottom.

5. Micro Lettering:

• Micro-lettering denomination numeral ‘5000’ appears at the left, alongside geometric patterns.

• This numeral is also hidden in the Margala Hills, appearing at the back of the Faisal Mosque.

6. Insignia:

• The seal of the ‘State Bank of Pakistan’ is visible at the reverse left bottom of the note.
