LAHORE: Engr. Muhammad Ayub has officially assumed the charge of Managing Director of the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC), a statement said on Thursday.
The Ministry of Energy (Power Division) appointed Engr. Muhammad Ayub as the MD NTDC in a stopgap arrangement. This follows his recent promotion by the Board of Directors of NTDC to the position of Deputy Managing Director Planning & Engineering (P&E).
According to a spokesman for NTDC, Engr. Muhammad Ayub holds a Master of Engineering degree in Power Systems from the University of Technology Lahore. Additionally, he has a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the Virtual University Islamabad, showcasing his diverse educational background.
Engr. Ayub brings over 36 years of extensive local and international experience in the power sector. His expertise spans high voltage transmission, project management, construction, and the operation and maintenance of power systems. Over the years, he has served NTDC in various capacities, including as General Manager Technical and General Manager (System Operations) at the National Power Control Center (NPCC).
The NTDC spokesman highlighted that Engr. Ayub’s vast experience and leadership skills make him well-suited to lead the organization during this transitional period. Under his leadership, NTDC aims to further strengthen the country’s power transmission infrastructure and ensure reliable electricity supply.
Meanwhile, the outgoing MD NTDC, Engr. Dr. Khawaja Riffat Hassan, will continue to contribute to the organization by resuming his role as General Manager Technical Services Group (TSG) NTDC. His valuable contributions during his tenure as MD NTDC have been acknowledged, and he is expected to play a pivotal role in supporting the company’s technical operations moving forward.
With Engr. Muhammad Ayub at the helm, NTDC is poised to address the challenges facing Pakistan’s power transmission sector. The organization remains committed to achieving its objectives of upgrading and expanding the transmission network to meet the growing energy demands of the country.
This new leadership marks a significant step forward for NTDC as it continues to serve as a backbone of Pakistan’s power sector, ensuring efficiency and reliability in its operations.
