Bangladesh will look to build on their encouraging 1-1 draw in Australia when they face the West Indies at home.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the schedule for the upcoming Bangladesh vs West Indies Test series, with the two-match contest set to take place on home soil as part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC).

The series will begin on October 28 with the opening Test at Mirpur, while the second and final match will be played in Sylhet from November 5. Bangladesh will enter the contest aiming to maintain the confidence gained from their recent 1-1 series draw against Australia.

Bangladesh currently occupy fourth position in the WTC standings. They have collected three victories, suffered two defeats and recorded one draw from six matches during the current championship cycle.

Their campaign has also included a 1-0 away series defeat against Sri Lanka and a 2-0 home series loss to Pakistan. However, their ability to secure a historic Test victory in Australia and draw the series has provided significant encouragement ahead of the West Indies visit.

West Indies face uphill challenge

The West Indies, meanwhile, sit eighth in the nine-team WTC table, only above Pakistan. Their record has been considerably less impressive, with two wins, eight defeats and two draws from 12 Tests.

The Caribbean side endured five consecutive defeats at the beginning of the current WTC cycle. Those losses included a 3-0 home whitewash against Australia and a 2-0 away defeat to India.

The West Indies eventually registered their first victory of the cycle against Sri Lanka, securing a 1-0 series win at home. They later drew their most recent WTC series 1-1 against Pakistan.

Before facing Bangladesh, the touring team will have an opportunity to prepare through a three-day warm-up match beginning October 22.
