Bank Alfalah, one of Pakistan’s largest commercial banks, has teamed up with World Wide Fund for Nature Pakistan (WWF-Pakistan), a leading environmental conservation organization, to kickstart #GreenWayForward, a plantation campaign.
This joint endeavor aims to contribute to the reforestation of mangroves and enhance natural resource management in Pakistan.
WWF-Pakistan has been at the forefront of environmental conservation since 1970, and in partnership with Bank Alfalah, they plan to plant a minimum of 15,000 saplings at the Wetlands in Sandspit, Karachi, representing the total number of employees at the bank.

Alongside the planting initiative, WWF-Pakistan will provide comprehensive post-care for the saplings for one year, including regular monitoring and replacement, ensuring long-term sustainability.
This ambitious plantation drive signifies a monumental step in protecting Karachi’s coastal ecosystem. The extensive Mangroves of Sindh’s coastal zone, covering around 600,000 hectares, play a crucial role in mitigating climate change impacts by acting as a natural barrier against erosion, storm surges, and coastal flooding.
Moreover, these coastal forests support exceptional biodiversity, serving as vital habitats for various plant and animal species. The #GreenWayForward campaign underscores Bank Alfalah’s commitment to a greener tomorrow.

Bank Alfalah’s sustainability commitment is further demonstrated by its pledge to plant 100,000 trees across Pakistan by 2030. This initiative showcases the bank’s dedication to environmental conservation and combatting climate change.
