Bella Ramsey has surprised fans with an exciting behind-the-scenes revelation about preparing for action scenes in the hit series The Last of Us.
During a recent appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show, Bella opened up about learning jiu jitsu and performing their own stunts—proving just how committed they are to the role.
The 21-year-old actor, who uses they/them pronouns, spoke candidly about the intense physical demands of filming. “I did. I always do. Second season’s a lot more [of that]. It’s really fun. I have got hurt,” Bella shared. They recalled getting a black eye from a dying clicker and suffering a busted lip during another intense fight scene.
Despite the injuries, Bella emphasized their love for doing their own stunts. “I love it. I really love it. I’m very good at getting injured just enough that I can keep working and not stop,” they said with a smile.
While discussing their physical preparation, Bella mentioned previous horse-riding training for Game of Thrones, where they played the fearless Lyanna Mormont. “They gave me way too much training for that. But I did train again for this season,” Bella added, referring to their expanded action role in The Last of Us.
One of the standout moments of the interview came when Bella demonstrated their jiu jitsu skills by throwing Jonathan Ross to the ground. “There’s boxing, some Brazilian jiu jitsu—you can be small and take someone down,” the Hilda and Worst Witch star explained confidently.
Beyond the action, Bella also touched on the fan-favorite chemistry between them and co-star Pedro Pascal. “He’s really wonderful and funny and I can understand why the whole world has a crush on him,” Bella joked. “The amount of people who come up to me flustered… he’s made quite an impression.”
