Tensions between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni are reportedly putting the highly anticipated sequel to It Ends With Us in jeopardy.
According to sources, a conflict between Lively and director Baldoni has cast serious doubt on the project’s next installment.
While It Ends With Us already has a pre-existing sequel, the future of the follow-up is uncertain due to the escalating dispute. A source told Variety, “This is uncharted territory, and nobody knows what a sequel could look like now.” The insider added, “There’s probably no scenario where these two will work together again.”
Before the conflict between the Jane the Virgin actor and the Gossip Girl star became widely publicized, several media outlets reported tensions between Justin Baldoni and other cast members.
The situation became more evident at the August 6 New York premiere of It Ends With Us, where Justin Baldoni notably avoided taking pictures with the cast and did not join Lively in introducing the movie.
The disagreement is said to have stemmed from Blake Lively, who also serves as a producer on the film, clashing with Justin Baldoni over the film’s editing.
Though neither Blake Lively nor Baldoni has publicly addressed their alleged rift, sources cited by Variety suggest that the issues between them are serious and may be beyond repair.
Baldoni has previously announced that he will not be directing the sequel, but reports indicate that It Starts With Us might only move forward if Lively and Baldoni can resolve their differences. As of now, the future of the sequel remains uncertain.
The future of the It Ends With Us sequel hangs in the balance due to escalating tensions between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. Their unresolved conflict, particularly over the film’s editing, threatens to derail the project entirely.
Unless they can mend their relationship, the highly anticipated sequel It Starts With Us may never come to fruition.
