Bonnie Wright, famously known for her role as Ginny Weasley in the Harry Potter series, recently shared her excitement about introducing her son to the magical world of Hogwarts.
The British actress, who made her acting debut at just nine years old in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, is now eagerly looking forward to sharing the beloved series with her own family.
The Harry Potter saga concluded in 2011 with the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, and its cast members have since embarked on new adventures in their personal lives.
Wright, now 33, welcomed her first child, a baby boy named Elio, on September 19th of last year with her husband, Andrew Lococo.
Though Elio has yet to celebrate his first birthday, Wright is already excited about the prospect of introducing him to the world of Harry Potter.
Speaking at the “Back to Hogwarts” event held at Grand Central Terminal in New York City on September 1, Wright expressed her hopes that her son will grow to love the books and movies as much as she does.
“I hope he actually likes it! I mean, I can’t force it on him, but I’m definitely gonna positively encourage reading it,” Wright shared with Us Weekly. The actress, who has always cherished the story, plans to make sure that Elio experiences the magic in its entirety, starting with the books.
“Could be like reading a book, [then] watching a movie. But I’m definitely gonna make sure we go through the books. I also remember growing up with the audiobooks, so maybe the audiobooks would be nice,” she added.
Bonnie Wright hopes that the Harry Potter series will spark a love of reading in her son, just as it has for millions of fans worldwide. “I think it’s just so special that so many new generations of fans will love it and find something in the story that resonates with them,” she told the outlet.
Bonnie Wright also noted how many parents have expressed gratitude for the series, saying, “It genuinely has inspired more reading, literacy, everything.”
As a new generation discovers the magic of Hogwarts, Wright is eager to see how the timeless tale will continue to inspire and enchant young minds, starting with her own son.
