Brenda Song couldn’t be happier about the success of her fellow Disney Channel alumni. As she continues to forge her own path in Hollywood, Brenda remains deeply appreciative of the achievements of stars like Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus.
While promoting her upcoming Netflix series Running Point at The Paley Center for Media in New York on February 25, Brenda took a moment to reflect on the careers of her former Disney peers. The Suite Life of Zack and Cody actress expressed admiration for how far they have come.
“It is so incredible. Seeing my contemporaries growing up, it’s like the most beautiful thing,” Brenda, 36, shared with People magazine. “I’ve been fortunate to run into Selena [amid] all this craziness, and I’m just so incredibly proud.”
Gomez, 32, has flourished in both television and film, winning a SAG Award for Only Murders in the Building and securing multiple Best Supporting Actress nominations for her role in the musical crime drama Emilia Pérez. Likewise, Cyrus, also 32, has had an outstanding year, winning a Grammy for her collaboration on Beyoncé’s II Most Wanted and earning a Golden Globe nomination for Beautiful That Way. The former Hannah Montana star also took home her first two Grammys last year.
“They’re finally getting the flowers that they deserve,” Brenda said, praising their continued evolution. “They’re such talented women, and seeing them transition from children to young adults to adulthood is absolutely beautiful. Watching them do it with such grace has been fantastic.”
Brenda’s own career remains equally dynamic, as she juggles her personal and professional commitments. The actress, who shares two children with fiancé Macaulay Culkin, is taking on an exciting new role in Running Point. The sports comedy, in which Brenda stars alongside Kate Hudson, is loosely inspired by the life of L.A. Lakers President Jeanie Buss.
With a flourishing career and a fulfilling personal life, Brenda continues to navigate Hollywood on her own terms. While she remains thrilled for the success of her fellow Disney alums, Brenda is equally focused on her own journey, proving that she, too, is a powerhouse in the industry.
