British Airways will increase Pakistan’s connectivity: SAPM

ISLAMABAD: Zulfikar Bukhari, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis & Human Resource, has highlighted the potential for increased connectivity and tourism opportunities between Pakistan and the rest of the world with the support of British Airways.

During a meeting with a delegation from the British Embassy Islamabad and officials from British Airways, Bukhari emphasized the positive impact that enhanced connectivity can bring to Pakistan.

Bukhari urged British Airways to play a role in promoting a positive image of Pakistan globally, emphasizing the airline’s potential contribution to increasing tourism in the country. He expressed his confidence that British Airways could become a key player in boosting Pakistan’s international relations.

The British Airways delegation, including Paul Coventry (Head of Worldwide Airports), John Monks (Director Safety and Security), and David Craig (International Risk Adviser), acknowledged Bukhari’s continuous support and discussed the prospects of cooperation between Pakistan and the airline.

The representatives from British Airways expressed their appreciation for the world-class facilities at the New Islamabad Airport, recognizing it as one of the region’s top airports in terms of size and design. The delegation also discussed the efficacy of the Safe City project, expressing satisfaction with its role in ensuring the safety of the capital city.

The meeting delved into details of British Airways’ upcoming flight operations in Pakistan, which are scheduled to commence in June of this year. The airline plans to operate three flights per week from Islamabad to London. Zulfikar Bukhari assured the delegation of the government’s full support for British Airways’ flight operations in Pakistan.

The collaboration between Pakistan and British Airways is seen as a positive step in strengthening bilateral ties, fostering economic opportunities, and promoting tourism. The anticipated increase in connectivity is expected to open new doors for trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between the two nations, contributing to the overall development of Pakistan’s global engagement.
