Bulls dominate trading; KSE-100 index gains 1112 points

KARACHI – The Bulls took firm control of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Thursday as the benchmark KSE-100 index posted a substantial gain of 1,112 points. The KSE-100 index closed at 44,334 points, significantly higher than the previous day’s close of 43,222 points, reflecting renewed investor confidence and improved sentiment.

According to analysts at Topline Securities, the Bulls dominated throughout the session, pushing the KSE-100 index to settle at 44,337 points, representing a 2.6 percent increase. The strong upward momentum was driven by political clarity, as a statement by Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry helped ease uncertainty in the market. He confirmed that the civil and military leadership are aligned and that the appointment process for the new DG ISI will soon be finalized—an announcement that boosted investor confidence.

The Bulls were further fueled by strong performances from key stocks such as LUCK, TRG, HBL, and UBL. These four stocks alone contributed approximately 310 points to the KSE-100 index’s overall surge, playing a central role in driving the market rally.

On the corporate earnings front, Meezan Bank Limited (MEBL) reported its financial results for the third quarter of 2021, posting an Earnings Per Share (EPS) of Rs4.3 along with a Dividend Per Share (DPS) of Rs1.5, further supporting positive market sentiment.

Trading activity was also robust, with total volumes reaching 388.43 million shares and the total traded value standing at Rs13.1 billion. The volume leader of the day was WorldCall Telecom Limited (WTL), which saw 66.16 million shares change hands.

With the Bulls regaining control and the KSE-100 index showing strong recovery, market participants are hopeful for continued momentum. The consistent performance of major index contributors and clarity on political matters could help sustain the rally in upcoming sessions. The KSE-100 is once again proving resilient amid uncertainty, with Bulls leading the charge.
