Chinese EV giant expands workforce at Shenshan industrial base to support rising overseas sales and ambitious production targets.
China’s leading electric vehicle manufacturer BYD has launched a large-scale recruitment campaign to hire more than 9,000 employees at its industrial facilities in the Shenshan (Shenzhen-Shantou) Special Cooperation Zone, as the company seeks to meet growing international demand for its vehicles.
According to local media reports, the hiring initiative will support operations at BYD’s Ebu components plant and Xiaomo vehicle manufacturing facility. The vacancies cover a broad range of positions, including production operators, technical specialists, quality inspectors, skilled workers, and management staff.
Rising Overseas Demand Drives Expansion
The recruitment campaign comes at a time when BYD is experiencing strong growth in overseas markets. The automaker recorded overseas sales of approximately 1.05 million passenger vehicles and pickup trucks during 2025, representing a year-on-year increase of 145%.
The momentum has continued into 2026, with overseas deliveries reaching nearly 789,400 units during the first six months of the year, marking a 70% increase compared with the same period last year. BYD is targeting annual overseas sales of 1.5 million vehicles in 2026 as it strengthens its global footprint.
Thousands of Vacancies Across Key Divisions
The company is recruiting employees across several divisions within the Shenshan industrial base.
At the Xiaomo Park, BYD’s 11th Division plans to hire around 4,800 workers for positions such as sheet metal technicians, upholstery specialists, and warehouse personnel. The 15th Division at the same facility is seeking about 1,200 employees for assembly operations, welding, and foaming-related roles.
Meanwhile, BYD’s 15th Division at the Ebu Park is looking to recruit approximately 2,000 workers, including machine operators, welders, and equipment adjustment technicians.
Competitive Salary Packages
BYD is offering attractive compensation packages to attract skilled talent. Entry-level operators can earn starting salaries of around 5,000 yuan per month. Specialized workers, including welders and electricians, may receive up to 10,000 yuan monthly, while experienced technicians and mould designers can earn between 15,000 and 20,000 yuan per month.
Shenshan Factory Plays Strategic Role
The Shenshan BYD Automotive Industrial Park serves as one of the company’s most important manufacturing hubs. The facility produces several popular models, including the Fang Cheng Bao Tai 7, Song Plus, and Song Pro, many of which are destined for export markets.
The factory produced more than 300,000 vehicles last year and is expected to generate an annual output value of 220 billion yuan once fully operational.
BYD Expands Global Manufacturing Network
The hiring drive reflects BYD’s broader strategy of expanding production capacity worldwide. In Brazil, the company recently celebrated the production of its 100,000th new energy vehicle, supported by a workforce of over 5,500 employees.
Construction is also progressing on BYD’s first European passenger vehicle plant in Hungary, while its Thailand facility in Rayong is already manufacturing multiple models for regional markets.
Industry data shows China exported more than 5 million vehicles during the first half of 2026, up 65.3% year-on-year, with BYD ranking among the country’s leading automotive exporters alongside Chery, SAIC, Geely, and Changan.
