Chinese electric vehicle (EV) giant BYD (Build Your Dreams) marked a significant milestone yesterday with the commencement of production for its latest new energy vehicle, the Song Plus DM-i Champion Edition, at its brand new Uzbekistan factory.
This development comes after BYD joined forces with Uzbekistan’s UzAuto Motors in September 2023 to establish a state-of-the-art production facility in the Jizzakh Region.
Designed to manufacture both EVs and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), the plant will initially focus on the Song Plus DM-i Champion Edition and Destroyer 05 Champion Edition models, with a projected annual output of 50,000 vehicles to cater to the growing demand for NEVs in the Central Asian market.
BYD and Uzbekistan Forge Green Transportation Partnership
Reinforcing its commitment to sustainable mobility solutions, BYD also signed a green transportation partnership with the Uzbek government. This strategic collaboration signifies BYD’s dedication to promoting eco-friendly travel options throughout the region.
BYD’s Global Expansion: A Drive Towards Sustainable Mobility Leadership
BYD’s foray into Uzbekistan is a continuation of its global expansion strategy that began in 2007, with the ambitious goal of becoming the world’s leading automaker by 2025.
This vision has driven the company to invest in production facilities across the globe, including an electric bus factory in the United States and a plant in Maharashtra, India, that currently manufactures popular models like the BYD F0 and BYD e6.
Uzbekistan: A Cornerstone of BYD’s Global Strategy
President Mirziyoyev’s visit to BYD’s headquarters earlier this year solidified Uzbekistan’s crucial role in BYD’s global roadmap. The visit included a virtual launch ceremony for the Uzbekistan factory, underscoring BYD’s commitment to local production and sustainable growth within the country.
BYD: A Global Leader in the New Energy Vehicle Market
BYD’s production footprint extends far beyond Uzbekistan, with established bases in Thailand, Brazil, and Hungary, solidifying its position as a dominant player in the international NEV market.
With continuous expansion plans and a focus on increasing production capacity, BYD remains at the forefront of automotive innovation, paving the way for a cleaner and more sustainable future.
