BYD has made a significant entry into Pakistan’s automotive market, unveiling three new vehicles: the Atto 3 (EV), Seal (EV), and Sealion 6 (PHEV).
This launch marks a milestone for the brand in the region, as the vehicles were introduced during a high-profile event attended by prominent figures, including key executives from Mega Motors and BYD, Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, and former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. The event also saw participation from various dealers, signaling a strong market presence for BYD in Pakistan.
Focusing on the BYD Sealion 6, this plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) stands out with its advanced features and impressive specifications. Unlike a full electric vehicle, the Sealion 6 offers the flexibility of a hybrid system, combining a traditional internal combustion engine with electric motor technology.
The BYD Sealion 6 is equipped with a Xiaoyun 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, which, when combined with its electric motor, delivers a robust 319 horsepower and a torque of 550 Nm.
This powertrain enables the Sealion 6 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds, offering a blend of efficiency and performance.
The vehicle also boasts a combined range of 961 km, thanks to its 18.3 kWh battery capacity and fuel efficiency of 17.24 km/l, making it an ideal choice for those seeking both economy and long-distance travel capability.
Other notable features of the Sealion 6 include its all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, a permanent magnet synchronous motor for hybrid assistance, and regenerative braking, which enhances energy efficiency by recapturing energy during braking. The vehicle’s curb weight stands at 2,100 kg, reflecting its robust build and advanced technology.
Although the official details regarding the launch, pricing, and booking of these models in Pakistan are yet to be confirmed, industry insiders estimate that the BYD Sealion 6 PHEV will be priced around Rs 14,733,042.
This anticipated pricing positions the Sealion 6 as a competitive option in the burgeoning hybrid vehicle market in Pakistan, offering a blend of cutting-edge technology and practical features for the discerning buyer.
