BYD Pakistan reveals Sealion 6 PHEV at PAPS 2026

The BYD Sealion 6 PHEV has been showcased in Pakistan with Super DM-i technology, a claimed combined range of up to 1,100 km, and plans for local assembly.

BYD Pakistan has officially revealed the Sealion 6 PHEV at Pakistan Auto Show (PAPS) 2026 in Lahore, marking an important development in the company’s plans for the local market. The new plug-in hybrid crossover is expected to move closer to its formal launch in Pakistan.

The biggest highlight of the reveal is that the BYD Sealion 6 is planned to become the company’s first locally assembled vehicle in Pakistan. The move would establish a local production footprint for BYD and represent a shift from the brand’s current focus on imported passenger vehicles.

The Sealion 6 PHEV will use BYD’s Super DM-i hybrid technology, which combines a petrol engine with an electric powertrain. According to the information shared at the event, the vehicle is capable of offering a combined driving range of up to 1,100 km, making range one of its key highlights for the Pakistani market.

The crossover will compete in the C+ segment and is expected to feature a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with an electric hybrid system. The expected power output is around 215 hp, while the vehicle is expected to produce up to 300 Nm of torque.

While the Sealion 6 has been showcased at PAPS 2026, BYD Pakistan has yet to disclose the complete Pakistan-specification details. Important information, including the final variant, equipment list, battery specifications, electric-only range and charging capabilities, is still awaited.

The company has also not announced the official price of the Sealion 6 PHEV in Pakistan. Pricing is likely to be a major factor as BYD prepares the model for local production and eventual market introduction.

The local assembly plan could further expand BYD’s presence in Pakistan’s growing new-energy vehicle market. The company’s decision to produce the Sealion 6 locally also signals a broader focus on establishing manufacturing capabilities rather than relying solely on completely built-up vehicle imports.

More details about the BYD Sealion 6 PHEV, including its launch timeline, pricing, specifications and locally assembled variants, are expected to be announced by BYD Pakistan in the coming months.
