BYD has made a notable debut in Pakistan’s automotive market by introducing three new vehicles including the Atto 3 (EV), Seal (EV), and Sealion 6 (PHEV).
This launch represents a significant milestone for BYD in the region. The vehicles were unveiled at a prestigious event attended by key industry figures, including top executives from Mega Motors and BYD,
Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, and former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. The presence of various dealers at the event further underscores BYD’s strong market entry in Pakistan.
The BYD Sealion 6, a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), is particularly noteworthy for its advanced features and impressive specifications. Unlike a fully electric vehicle, the Sealion 6 offers the versatility of a hybrid system, combining a traditional internal combustion engine with electric motor technology.
The BYD Sealion 6 is powered by a Xiaoyun 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, paired with an electric motor to deliver an impressive 319 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque.
This powertrain allows the Sealion 6 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds, offering a balance of performance and efficiency.
The vehicle also boasts a combined range of 961 km, supported by its 18.3 kWh battery and fuel efficiency of 17.24 km/l, making it an excellent choice for those seeking both economic and long-distance driving capabilities.
Additional standout features of the Sealion 6 include its all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, a permanent magnet synchronous motor for hybrid support, and regenerative braking, which enhances energy efficiency by recapturing energy during braking. The vehicle’s curb weight is 2,100 kg, reflecting its solid construction and advanced technology.
While official details regarding the pricing and booking of these models in Pakistan have yet to be confirmed, industry estimates suggest that the BYD Sealion 6 PHEV will be priced at around Rs 14,733,042.
This expected pricing positions the Sealion 6 as a strong contender in Pakistan’s growing hybrid vehicle market, offering a blend of cutting-edge technology and practical features for discerning buyers.
With BYD’s strategic entry into Pakistan, the automotive landscape is poised for a shift towards more eco-friendly and technologically advanced vehicles, meeting the rising demand for hybrid and electric vehicles in the country.
