    SBP issues list of banks operating in Pakistan

    KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has issued a list of banks operating in the country. The list contained all the banks including public sector banks, local private banks, foreign banks and specialized banks.

    The central bank said that by end of December 31, 2020 the total number of banks were 32 in Pakistan as compared with 33 by end of December 31, 2019.

    Rupee gains 38 paisas against dollar

    KARACHI: The Pak Rupee made a gain of 38 paisas against the dollar on Wednesday due to inflows of payment of international bonds floated by the government.

    The rupee ended at Rs159.13 to the dollar from previous day’s closing of Rs159.51 in the interbank foreign exchange market.

    During the day the SBP announced to receive $1 billion as proceeds of Eurobond auctioned by the government of Pakistan.
