Cement exports surge 9.58% as Pakistan opens FY2026-27 on strong note

Pakistan’s cement exports reached $38.212 million in July 2026, while export volumes climbed nearly 12% year-on-year.

Pakistan’s cement exports recorded solid growth in the opening month of the new financial year 2026-27, rising 9.58% year-on-year in July 2026, according to the latest data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

The country exported cement worth $38.212 million in July 2026, compared with $34.870 million during the same month of 2025. The increase highlights stronger external demand for Pakistani cement at the beginning of the new fiscal year.

Cement Export Volume Also Climbs

The improvement was not limited to export value, as the quantity of cement shipped abroad also registered significant growth. Cement exports increased by 11.96% year-on-year, rising from 640,198 metric tons in July 2025 to 985,180 metric tons in July 2026, PBS data showed.

The higher export volume indicates that cement manufacturers and exporters maintained momentum in overseas markets despite broader challenges facing the domestic construction and industrial sectors.

Monthly Cement Exports Show Sharp Growth

Cement exports also posted a substantial month-on-month increase during July. Export earnings climbed 42.87% compared with June 2026, when cement exports stood at $26.746 million.

The sharp monthly improvement provides an encouraging start to FY2026-27 and could support the cement industry’s efforts to expand its presence in international markets.

Pakistan’s Overall Exports Increase

The growth in cement exports came alongside a broader rise in Pakistan’s merchandise exports. Total exports increased by 9.54% year-on-year in July 2026, reaching $2.939 billion, compared with $2.683 billion in July 2025.

However, imports grew at a considerably faster pace during the month. Pakistan’s imports rose 17.99%, increasing from $5.837 billion in July 2025 to $6.887 billion in July 2026.

The latest trade figures suggest that while Pakistan’s export sector began the new fiscal year with positive momentum, the faster growth in imports remains an important factor for the country’s external trade balance.
