Ch. Tarique posted as Chief Commissioner CTO Lahore

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) took decisive steps on Friday, announcing the transfer and posting of Ch. Muhammad Tarique, a BS-21 officer of the Inland Revenue Service (IRS), as the Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue at the Corporate Tax Office (CTO) Lahore.

The reshuffle, effective immediately, was part of an overall reorganization within the FBR.

Ch. Muhammad Tarique, who was serving as a Member at FBR Headquarters in Islamabad, was transferred to the key position of Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue at the CTO Lahore. At the time of the transfer, Tarique was on leave; however, the cancellation of the remaining leave period was scheduled to be notified separately by the FBR.

In tandem with this move, Ms. Amina Hassan, an IRS officer of BS-21, was transferred from her position as Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue at CTO Lahore to the role of Director General at the Directorate General of Training and Research (Inland Revenue) in Lahore. The FBR announced that Ms. Amina Hassan would assume her new responsibilities upon the retirement of the incumbent Director-General on November 22, 2021.

The FBR clarified that officers who were already receiving performance allowances prior to the issuance of the notification would continue to receive these allowances at their new places of posting.

These strategic transfers and appointments are part of the FBR’s ongoing efforts to optimize its organizational structure and streamline leadership roles within the IRS. By placing experienced officers in key positions, the FBR aims to enhance operational efficiency, ensure effective tax administration, and address evolving challenges in revenue collection.

Ch. Muhammad Tarique’s transition from the role of Member at FBR Headquarters to Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue at CTO Lahore is expected to bring a wealth of experience and insights to the regional office, contributing to the FBR’s broader objectives of maximizing tax compliance and revenue generation.

Similarly, Ms. Amina Hassan’s move to the Directorate General of Training and Research reflects a strategic placement to leverage her expertise in shaping training programs and research initiatives within the Inland Revenue Service.

The FBR’s commitment to optimizing human resources and leadership positions underscores its dedication to modernizing tax administration, fostering a culture of continuous learning, and ensuring that key personnel are strategically positioned to drive organizational goals.

As the new appointees assume their respective roles, the FBR anticipates increased synergy and effectiveness in addressing the challenges and opportunities within the taxation landscape, contributing to the overarching goals of economic sustainability and fiscal responsibility.
