Chilly Weather Expected Across Punjab with Light Showers

Islamabad, January 30, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted cold and dry weather for most districts of Punjab on Friday, January 31, 2025.

While temperatures are expected to remain low, certain northern areas may experience partly cloudy conditions, accompanied by light rain or snowfall in isolated locations, particularly in Murree, Galliyat, and nearby regions.

Weather Overview for Punjab

According to the PMD, the majority of Punjab will continue to experience cold and dry conditions throughout the day. Residents in central and southern districts should prepare for chilly mornings and nights, with temperatures expected to remain below seasonal averages. However, in the northern parts of Punjab, particularly Murree and Galliyat, there is a likelihood of light rain or snowfall, which may result in temporarily slippery roads and reduced visibility.

On Thursday night, similar conditions prevailed across Punjab, with cold and dry weather dominating most districts, while Murree and Galliyat witnessed patchy clouds and light precipitation. The presence of a westerly wave in the upper parts of the country continues to influence the regional weather patterns, bringing moisture to higher elevations.

National Weather Outlook

At the national level, the PMD reports that a westerly weather system is currently affecting the upper regions of Pakistan. On Thursday, cold and dry conditions were recorded in most plain areas, while partly cloudy weather with light rain or snowfall was observed in parts of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and nearby hilly areas.

A similar pattern is expected to continue on Friday, with cold and dry weather dominating the plains, while isolated areas in the northern highlands may receive light precipitation.
