Rising international crude oil prices may push fuel rates higher in Pakistan as OGRA continues daily revisions of petroleum prices.

Pakistanis may have to prepare for another increase in petroleum prices as international crude oil markets continue their upward trend.

The latest surge in global oil prices is expected to exert additional pressure on domestic fuel rates, raising concerns among consumers already facing repeated fuel price adjustments.

Brent crude oil, the global benchmark for oil pricing, was trading at $97.59 per barrel, registering a significant increase of 3.74 percent during the latest trading session.

The sharp rise in international oil prices has strengthened expectations that local petroleum rates could witness another upward revision in the coming days.

The anticipated increase comes just a day after the federal government announced a fresh hike in fuel prices. Effective July 23, 2026, the price of petrol was increased by Rs6.40 per litre, while high-speed diesel became costlier by Rs7.80 per litre.

Following the latest revision, petrol is being sold at Rs327.10 per litre, whereas diesel is available at Rs375 per litre.

The recent adjustment has added to a series of fuel price increases witnessed throughout July. According to available data, petrol prices have climbed by approximately Rs27.56 per litre during the month, while diesel prices have surged by nearly Rs72.06 per litre.

These increases have significantly raised transportation and logistics costs, which may ultimately impact the prices of essential goods and services.

Market analysts believe that continued volatility in global energy markets could keep pressure on Pakistan’s fuel pricing mechanism. Since the country relies heavily on imported petroleum products, any rise in international crude prices directly affects domestic fuel costs.

Meanwhile, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has adopted a daily fuel pricing mechanism and now publishes updated petroleum product prices every day through its official platform. The initiative is designed to improve transparency and ensure that fluctuations in global oil markets are reflected more quickly in local fuel prices.

With crude oil prices continuing to rise internationally, consumers and businesses alike remain watchful for another potential increase in petroleum prices across Pakistan.
