Islamabad, November 15, 2024 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a detailed weather forecast for Saturday, November 16, 2024, predicting varied conditions across the country. According to the PMD, cloudy weather accompanied by rain, wind, and thunderstorms is expected in isolated areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and northeast Punjab during the morning hours. Higher altitudes in these regions may experience snowfall. Meanwhile, the rest of the country is likely to witness dry weather.

Smog and Fog Persist in Punjab Plains

Residents of Punjab’s plains should brace for smog and dense fog during morning and night hours. This phenomenon, common during the winter season, continues to affect visibility and air quality in the region.

Westerly Wave Influencing Northern Regions

The PMD highlighted a westerly wave currently affecting northern parts of Pakistan, which is driving the rain and cloudy weather in the specified areas.

Weather Summary for November 15, 2024

On Friday, similar weather patterns were observed, with rain-wind/thunderstorms and snowfall reported in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Islamabad, upper Punjab, and northeast Balochistan. However, most other parts of the country experienced dry weather.

Precautions Amid Smog and Fog

The PMD advises commuters in smog-affected areas to drive carefully due to reduced visibility. Health precautions, such as wearing masks to avoid inhaling pollutants, are also recommended.

With the winter season progressing, weather variations across the country are expected to intensify, bringing more diverse conditions in the coming weeks.
