Residents of Islamabad are advised to prepare for chilly conditions and intermittent cloud cover as a westerly wave impacts the region.

The PMD has forecast cold and partly cloudy weather in Islamabad and its surroundings on Tuesday, with light rain or drizzle expected in the evening or nighttime hours. This pattern follows a similar forecast for Monday night, when Islamabad experienced partly cloudy skies with occasional light rain and wind.

Nationally, the PMD issued a warning about moderate to heavy snowfall in various regions, including Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Naran, Kaghan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, and Gilgit-Baltistan. These conditions may result in road closures and slippery surfaces in affected areas.

A westerly wave is currently influencing western and upper parts of the country, including Islamabad, and is likely to persist in these regions over the next 24 hours. This system is expected to bring rain and snow to mountainous areas while maintaining cold and dry conditions in other regions.

Rain with windstorms and snow over hills is predicted for parts of Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir. Islamabad will continue to experience cold and dry weather, with light fog in the early morning hours.

Tuesday Forecast

Rain and snow over hilly areas are expected in Northwest Balochistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. In Islamabad, cold and partly cloudy weather will dominate, while light to moderate fog may persist in Punjab and upper Sindh during morning and nighttime hours.
