Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar has welcomed the positive trajectory in Pakistan-UK relations during a meeting with British High Commissioner Jane Marriott in Islamabad.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Both sides also exchanged views on important regional and international developments, according to a statement issued by the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office.
Dar recalled his recent interaction with UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband on the sidelines of the ASEAN Regional Forum in Manila. He underscored the importance of maintaining regular high-level engagement between Pakistan and the United Kingdom to further deepen cooperation.
The deputy prime minister noted that sustained diplomatic contacts could help both countries address shared concerns and identify new opportunities for collaboration. He also stressed the need to build on the existing momentum in bilateral relations through continued engagement.
During the discussion, Dar also highlighted the importance of implementing the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by all concerned parties in letter and spirit. He reiterated Pakistan’s position that dialogue and diplomacy provide the most effective path toward resolving outstanding issues.
