Debutants Shine as England Women’s Ashes Series Begins

England Women’s Ashes series is set to kick off with a thrilling Test match, featuring two promising debutants in the national team’s starting XI. Led by captain Heather Knight, the English side will take on their Australian counterparts in the solitary Test scheduled from June 22 to 26 at Nottingham.

The Women’s Ashes 2023 is a multi-format series encompassing a one-off Test, three T20Is, and three ODIs. In terms of points distribution, the Test carries four points, while each T20I and ODI carries two points.

Lauren Filer and Danni Wyatt have been named as the two debutants for England’s Test squad. Lauren Filer, despite being uncapped at the international level, has earned her selection due to her exceptional performances in domestic cricket. Particularly noteworthy is her impressive bowling record for the Western Storm.

On the other hand, Danni Wyatt, a seasoned player with 14 years of international cricket experience, will make her Test debut. Wyatt recently showcased her skills for England A in a three-day match against Australia at Leicestershire.

She has been in stellar form during the Charlotte Edwards Cup 2023, leading the competition’s run-scoring chart with an impressive tally of 273 runs.
