ISLAMABAD: Power Distribution Companies (DISCOs) have published the list of defaulters above Rs 1 million on their website, said a statement on Tuesday.

It said that on directions of Power Division, the lists of electricity dues defaulters above Rs1 million have been published on the websites of concerned DISCOs.

An operation against these defaulters is also in full swing. Electricity connections of the running and dead/disconnected defaulters against whom more than Rs 1 million are outstanding in lieu of electricity charges their connections are being disconnected.

All lists of these defaulters are also published on the website of Power Information Technology Company (PITC) and can be accessed at pitc.com.pk/index.php/defaulters-list.

The Power Division stated that this move is part of a broader strategy to improve recovery of outstanding electricity dues and reduce financial losses in the power sector. Officials added that mounting receivables from defaulters have been a major burden on the system, affecting liquidity and increasing pressure on electricity tariffs for regular consumers. By publicly sharing the list, authorities aim to increase transparency and encourage timely payment of bills.

DISCOs have also been instructed to intensify recovery efforts through coordinated field operations, legal action, and strict enforcement measures. In some cases, attachment of properties and recovery through revenue authorities may also be initiated against persistent defaulters. The government hopes that these steps will strengthen discipline in bill payments and improve the overall financial health of the power distribution network.
