Serbian tennis legend begins his quest for a record 25th Grand Slam title with a four-set victory as Felix Auger-Aliassime also progresses.

Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic made an impressive start to his Wimbledon Open campaign by securing a place in the second round, keeping alive his pursuit of a historic 25th Grand Slam singles title. The experienced campaigner overcame China’s Yibing Wu in four sets to open his tournament with a confident victory.

Djokovic, who is aiming to become the first player in tennis history to win 25 Grand Slam singles titles, displayed resilience and composure throughout the opening-round contest. Although he dropped one set, the Serbian maintained control during crucial moments to seal a 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 victory over Wu.

The former world number one started strongly by claiming the opening set 6-4. Wu responded with an improved performance to edge the second set 7-5, briefly leveling the contest and putting pressure on the Serbian.

However, Djokovic quickly regained momentum and relied on his vast experience to dominate the next two sets, winning both 6-4 to complete the victory.

The result marks another positive beginning for Djokovic at the Wimbledon Open, where he has consistently been among the leading contenders. His balanced serving, precise baseline play, and ability to handle key pressure points once again highlighted why he remains one of the favorites for the prestigious grass-court title.

Meanwhile, Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime also booked his place in the second round with a convincing straight-sets victory over Kazakhstan’s Alexander Shevchenko. The Canadian produced an aggressive all-round display to secure a comfortable 6-3, 6-1, 6-4 win.

Auger-Aliassime controlled the match from the outset, breaking serve regularly and limiting his opponent’s opportunities throughout the contest. His powerful serving and consistent groundstrokes helped him wrap up the match without dropping a set.

With both Djokovic and Auger-Aliassime progressing, the Wimbledon Open continues to feature high-quality performances from some of the tournament’s top contenders.

Fans will now look ahead to the second-round matches as Djokovic continues his bid for an unprecedented 25th Grand Slam crown, while Auger-Aliassime hopes to build further momentum in one of tennis’ most prestigious championships.
