Canadian rapper joins Don Toliver on stage at Scotiabank Arena and performs tracks from his Billboard 200-topping album
Drake sent fans into a frenzy after making a surprise appearance at Don Toliver’s sold-out concert in Toronto and delivering his first live arena performances of songs from his latest album, ICEMAN.
The 39-year-old Canadian rapper and singer made the unexpected appearance on Monday night, August 31, at Toliver’s show at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario.
Toliver brought Drake onto the stage during the ongoing OCTANE Tour’s “Nitrous” leg, the second and additional leg of his tour supporting his album Octane.
The surprise appearance quickly became one of the highlights of the Toronto show, with Drake performing several tracks from ICEMAN, which topped the Billboard 200.
Among the songs performed were “Shabang”, “Janice STFU” and “Burning Bridges”, marking Drake’s first arena renditions of tracks from the new album.
Don Toliver praises Drake
During the performance, Toliver publicly praised Drake for his influence on his career and hip-hop culture.
“I appreciate you for inspiring us all. You know damn well this shit wouldn’t be this shit if you ain’t do this shit,” Toliver told Drake.
Drake reciprocated the appreciation, further fuelling excitement among fans about a possible collaboration between the two artists.
The surprise appearance also generated a huge reaction online, with fans celebrating the Toronto crowd for witnessing the special performance.
“Toronto crowds really don’t deserve to keep winning like this,” one fan wrote.
Others called for Drake and Toliver to collaborate on new music, while some fans were already hoping the surprise appearance could lead to an ICEMAN tour.
“They singing word for word, ICEMAN tour boutta be generational!” another fan commented.
Fans speculate over future collaboration
Drake’s appearance alongside Toliver has renewed speculation about a potential musical collaboration between the pair.
The two artists have previously worked within the same hip-hop and R&B circles, and their latest on-stage interaction has intensified calls from fans for them to release new material together.
For now, however, there has been no confirmed announcement of a joint project or ICEMAN tour.
