Islamabad, January 27, 2025 – The Punjab province is set to experience drizzle and gusty winds on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The forecast predicts cold and dry conditions in most districts, but areas like Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, and Chakwal will see cloudy weather accompanied by light drizzle and gusty winds. In addition, light rain or snowfall is expected in Murree, Galliyat, and nearby areas during the night, bringing a chill to the region.
The forecast also includes the possibility of shallow fog in patches across various parts of Punjab, such as Sialkot, Narowal, and Gujranwala, during the morning hours. This weather pattern is expected to persist until the night, where conditions will remain cold and dry in the majority of the province. However, the higher altitude regions of Murree, Galliyat, and their surroundings will experience much colder temperatures, with a significant drop in mercury levels.
Looking ahead to Monday night, PMD has forecasted similarly cold and dry conditions across most of Punjab. The exception will be the hill stations, where very cold weather is anticipated. As the temperature continues to dip, residents in the northern hilly areas can expect more intense cold spells, with chances of shallow fog affecting visibility in cities like Sialkot and Gujranwala during the morning hours.
Nationally, the prevailing continental air will maintain cold and dry conditions over much of the country, with hilly areas remaining particularly cold. As for Tuesday, the weather in most of the country will remain cold, particularly in the morning and night, with a continuation of chilly weather in the mountainous regions.
In contrast to the cold conditions across the rest of the country, the Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir regions will witness cloudy skies, light rain or snowfall, and gusty winds in the evening and night. These areas are expected to be affected by more severe weather than other parts of the country.
Over the past 24 hours, most of Pakistan experienced cold and dry weather, with particularly frigid temperatures in the hilly areas. Among the coldest recorded locations were Leh at -12°C, Gupis and Skardu at -10°C, Astore at -9°C, and various parts of Gilgit, Kalam, and Quetta, which saw temperatures around -5°C to -4°C.
