Karachi, September 6, 2024 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted a chance of drizzle in the coastal areas of Sindh over the next 24 hours, with conditions likely to remain partly cloudy during nighttime.
According to the PMD, most districts of Sindh, including Karachi, will experience hot and dry weather during the day on Saturday, September 7, 2024. However, residents along the coast can expect light drizzles during the night.
The weather pattern for Sindh reflects broader national conditions, where hot and dry weather is expected to dominate most parts of the country. The PMD has indicated that while the majority of Pakistan will remain dry, isolated rain-wind or thundershower activity is likely in some northern and northeastern regions. Specifically, the Pothohar region, northeast Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan are expected to see rainfall during the morning hours.
According to the PMD, this activity is being influenced by a shallow westerly wave that is currently affecting the upper and northeastern parts of the country. Despite this, the overall weather pattern remains predominantly dry.
For Friday, September 6, 2024, the weather remained consistent with expectations. Hot and dry conditions prevailed across most regions, with rain-wind or thundershowers occurring in isolated areas of northeast Punjab, Pothohar, Kashmir, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Notable rainfall was recorded in Lahore, where 6 mm of rain fell, and Sialkot, which saw 3 mm. In Kashmir, Rawalakot received 5 mm of rain.
The past 24 hours also saw dry weather in most parts of the country, aside from the isolated showers in the northeastern regions. Maximum temperatures soared in southern and central parts of Pakistan, with Nokkundi recording the highest temperature at 42°C. Other regions with high temperatures included Sibbi, Khairpur, Dalbandin, and Turbat, all of which reached 40°C.
With drizzle expected in coastal areas and hot conditions continuing inland, residents of Sindh are advised to take precautions against the heat and stay updated with weather alerts for any changes in conditions.
