Ebadot Hossain’s Injury Forces Asia Cup Squad Change

Bangladesh’s cricket ambitions have been dealt a blow as pace sensation Ebadot Hossain exits the highly anticipated Asia Cup due to an unfortunate injury.

Just two weeks after revealing their formidable 17-player roster for the upcoming Asia Cup, Bangladesh faces a setback with Ebadot’s untimely injury sidelining him.

The squad, under the leadership of newly appointed captain Shakib Al Hasan, had originally relied on Ebadot as a key player.

However, a recent ODI series against Afghanistan led to Ebadot sustaining a significant anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.

After thorough assessment, medical professionals have determined that Ebadot will need an extensive six-week rehabilitation period to fully recover.

This absence of the dynamic fast bowler has opened the door for a fresh addition to the squad, the promising and untested pacer, Tanzim Hasan Sakib.

Tanzim Hasan Sakib, an energetic 20-year-old, may not have international experience yet, but he exudes the determination and potential of a seasoned player.

His inclusion is a tribute to his remarkable performance in the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2020 and his recent outstanding display in the ACC Emerging Men’s Asia Cup.

In this tournament, he impressively secured nine wickets across three matches. With the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup looming on the horizon in less than sixty days, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has faced a tough choice, prioritizing Ebadot’s long-term recovery over immediate gains.
