The Young and the Restless star Eileen Davidson is recovering from a fractured patella after an accident that requires surgery.

The Young and the Restless star Eileen Davidson is recovering from a fractured kneecap after slipping while getting out of a cold plunge, with the injury requiring surgery and keeping her away from work for several weeks.

Eileen Davidson reveals painful injury

Davidson shared the news on Instagram alongside two photos. One showed her dancing during her time on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, while the other showed her swollen knee in a brace.

“I sure won’t be making those moves anytime soon!” Davidson wrote.

The actress explained that she slipped while getting out of a cold plunge and fractured her patella. She added that she would be “down for the count for quite a few weeks” while recovering from surgery.

Davidson also thanked the emergency medical technicians and medical staff at Los Robles Hospital who treated her following the accident.

Co-stars send messages of support

The injury quickly prompted messages from Davidson’s former colleagues and friends from both her soap opera and reality television careers.

Bravo executive and host Andy Cohen, who worked with Davidson during her time on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, responded with a brief “No!”

Her The Young and the Restless and Days of Our Lives co-stars also sent their support. Greg Rikaart wrote “NO!”, while Lauralee Bell wished Davidson a speedy recovery and encouraged her to take the time she needs to heal.

Melissa Claire Egan wrote, “Nooooooo, Sending huge hugs, love you!” Stephen Nichols was also among those who reached out.

Eileen Davidson’s long-running soap career

Davidson has portrayed Ashley Abbott on The Young and the Restless on and off for more than four decades, making her one of the long-running soap’s most recognisable stars.

Her career has earned her two Daytime Emmy Awards for Lead Actress. She won in 2014 for her performances as Kristen DiMera and Susan Banks on Days of Our Lives, before winning again in 2018 for her portrayal of Ashley Abbott on The Young and the Restless.

Injury could delay Ashley Abbott’s return

Davidson’s most recent storyline on The Young and the Restless, which began in July, saw Ashley dealing with the aftermath of her brother Jack Abbott’s stabbing by Patty Williams while becoming embroiled in a series of Jabot corporate secrets.

Although Davidson has not appeared on screen since July, recent posts from a photo shoot had fuelled speculation that Ashley could return to Genoa City before the end of the year.

Her latest injury is now expected to delay those plans as she focuses on recovering from surgery and her fractured patella.
