Emma Corrin Feels Guilty About On-Screen Marvel Death

Emma Corrin recently opened up about the emotional experience of playing supervillain Cassandra Nova in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, particularly about a specific character’s death that left them feeling “terrible.”

Emma Corrin, known for their role in Deadpool & Wolverine, revealed in an interview with British GQ that they went “absolutely mad” during the scene where their character kills Chris Evans’ Human Torch. Evans’ surprise cameo, reprising his role from the 2005 and 2007 Fantastic Four movies, was a significant moment for fans.

“I felt so bad when we were in the screening the other day,” Emma Corrin shared. “We watched it after the New York premiere with a theater full of fans at Lincoln Center. Everyone was so excited when they saw him appear on screen, and then after three minutes, I’ve killed him. I felt terrible. I was hiding in my seat. Yeah, it was weird. Not something I thought I’d be doing if you’d asked me a few years ago.”

The unexpected death of Evans’ character was a shocking twist for the audience, highlighting the unpredictable nature of Marvel’s storytelling.

Emma Corrin also praised Marvel for their skillful handling of cameos in the box-office hit movie. “That’s something Marvel does so well, the cameos,” they said. “They give the people what they want. They give them cameos. But they also don’t use them gratuitously. They’re all there for a reason. And I think you really sense that. Or, I hope people sense that, because I think they’re used really cleverly.”

The actor’s transition into the Marvel Cinematic Universe marks a significant milestone in their career, showcasing their versatility and ability to take on complex roles. Despite the emotional turmoil associated with playing a supervillain, Corrin’s performance has been widely appreciated, adding depth and intrigue to the beloved franchise.

As fans continue to flock to theaters to see Deadpool & Wolverine, Corrin’s reflections provide an insightful look behind the scenes, shedding light on the emotional impact of bringing such dynamic characters to life.
