Aneurin Donald earns maiden T20I call-up, while Henry Crocombe receives first ODI selection as Jamie Overton returns.

England have announced their squads for the upcoming white-ball series against Sri Lanka, naming separate 16-member teams for the Vitality IT20 and Metro Bank ODI fixtures.

The selections include two uncapped players, with Aneurin Donald receiving his maiden call-up to England’s T20I squad and seamer Henry Crocombe earning his first place in the ODI team.

Donald has been rewarded for an outstanding domestic campaign with Derbyshire in the Vitality Blast. The opening batter also produced impressive performances for Trent Rockets in The Hundred, strengthening his case for international selection.

Crocombe has similarly attracted attention from England’s selectors following a series of encouraging displays in domestic cricket. His consistent performances throughout the summer have now earned him an opportunity at ODI level.

Jamie Overton has also returned to both England squads after recovering from the thigh injury that ruled him out of the white-ball series against India earlier this summer.

However, England will be without Phil Salt for the Sri Lanka series after the batter suffered a right quad injury. Jacob Bethell is also unavailable as he continues his recovery from knee surgery performed earlier this week.

England Men’s National Selector Marcus North backed the inclusion of Donald and Crocombe, highlighting their strong domestic performances as the basis for their selections.

Harry Brook will captain both squads, with several senior players featuring across the T20I and ODI teams. Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Liam Dawson, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Jamie Overton, Adil Rashid and Josh Tongue are among those selected in both formats.
