KARACHI: Bank deposits of salaried persons have sharply increased by 17.26 percent to Rs1,569 billion for the period ended December 31, 2018 as compared with Rs1,338 billion in the same period of the last year.
According to deposits of all banks released by State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the personal deposits increased to Rs6.5 trillion, which is almost half of the total deposits of the banking system.
The deposits in the segment of personal increased by 13.5 percent to Rs6,500 billion by end of December 2018 as compared with Rs5,726 billion as of December 31, 2018.
The banking deposits of self employed also increased to Rs2,871 billion from Rs2,694 billion.
The deposits of under the head of other personal have sharply increased by 21.63 percent. This segment includes deposits from house-wives, students etc.
The deposits under this head increased to Rs2,058 billion by end of December 2018 as compared with Rs1,692 billion in the same period of the last year.
The total deposits of the banking system hit record high of Rs13.17 trillion by December 2018 as compared with Rs11.94 billion by end of December 2017.
